To market (again).

By Friday afternoon, my produce from our trip to the market on Wednesday was gone. The second I ate my last bite of peach, I texted Brian declaring that a trip to the Union Square Greenmarket was necessary. So, Saturday morning we were off on another Greenmarket adventure. And the market in Union Square is no joke. I love how every time we go we find a new favorite stand, a new fruit or vegetable in season, and a new place to sneak in a quick kiss before walking to our next destination.
We wandered from stand to stand looking for the best peaches, the perfect ingredients for homemade salsa, and new fruits to try. The morning started off comfortable, but as the hours went by the heat became more and more intense. I was all smiles while shopping, but by the end of our market adventure I was uncomfortable, hot, and seconds away from a panic attack. Crowds and summer heat can do that to me.
We carried our shopping bags full of peaches, sugar plums, cilantro, tomatoes, onions, peppers, organic popcorn kernels, pretzels, and cinnamon raisin walnut bread back down into the depths of the steamy subway and home to Queens. Once we were back in the air conditioned apartment, I decided that there was no way I would be going to the gym (Brian still went; how he had the energy I am not sure). We spent the afternoon around the apartment snacking on homemade salsa made from our morning's purchases and the evening enjoying whole wheat pasta primavera as we watched discs of Friends. After dinner, we shared Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia and freshly popped popcorn as our Friends marathon continued. Oh, it was grand. Have I mentioned my love for summer?

  3. Hey,
I found your blog from Yep The Blog - I'm a NC girl, and have only been to NYC once, but I swear I dream about it once a month. I loved it! It seems you could never see it all! I also am a huge fan of summer markets - I love to go to the one in Raleigh whenever I get time. Love that you are just documenting normal, everyday life for a New Yorker.
