Life lately.

The last two weeks of January were challenging. After a wonderful long weekend in Florida, I came back to a jam-packed calendar at work and brutal winter temperatures in New York City. I felt a cold coming on last weekend and ended up sleeping until after 3 pm Sunday afternoon fighting it off. Yes, 3 pm. I literally slept all day. Brian is the best when I get sick; he always makes me tea with honey, fresh fruit, and ginger that I swear can heal any ailment. He also made a delicious pot of beef stew Sunday night, which is one of my favorite comfort foods. Luckily, by the middle of the week I was feeling much better and back on track. And now it is February! I am feeling refreshed as this new month begins and am excited for what is to come. Only two more weeks until our mid-winter break!

  1. I feel you fighting the January blues right? Well I hope you get (got) better after your cold. I just starting fighting a chest cold and I'm going in to interview for a few places around town- any tips? Having a cold and trying to function is hard! Enjoy a new month: Hello February! :)

    1. Hey Nora!

I hope your interviews go well! Fighting off a cold in the dead of winter is the worst. I highly recommend drinking as much tea as possible. Brian makes a huge pot for me every time I am sick- green tea, camomile, fresh ginger, berries, oranges, and apple cider vinegar. We strain everything out before drinking, but you could leave it all in if you prefer! Apple cider vinegar is magical stuff when it comes to getting and staying healthy.

I am feeling better now, but cannot believe how much snow we are getting here in NYC today!

  2. Glad to hear you are feeling better and you had a great caretaker. The time of year really is brutal. Hunker down and with some of that healing tea and count the days until spring!

    1. Thankfully I am back on track now! I am so glad I was able to fight that cold off before it took me out!

In other news, what on earth is with this snow today?! And why didn't the mayor help us teachers out and call a snow day? Hope you are staying dry!
