I woke up on Valentine's morning so full of love. I couldn't wait for my night at home with Brian and for him to find part of his Valentine's gift when he went to my apartment to start cooking our dinner...
The night before Valentine's I wrote down about twenty of the many reasons why I love Brian. I tried to stick them all of the places he would look as he cooked me my noodle dinner (I am made fun of constantly for calling every pasta meal we have noodles). I think it was as fun for me to write each little love note down as it was for him to find them.
After a long day at work and planning meetings after-school, I raced out the doors at 6:30 and was home an hour later. Before I even got up the stairs, my Valentine's Day was fabulous. Because I opened this very special Valentine from my grandma...
It is now next to my other very special Valentine's from family and friends from here, Florida, and home in Minnesota. Thank you for the cards, I love real mail more than anything! When I reached my apartment door my smile somehow got even bigger when I saw a note underneath the one I had left that morning.
And then walked into flowers, a set table, and the aroma of delicious homemade red sauce.
And a handwritten Valentine with real ink from an old fashioned ink pen, sealed with melted wax. Speaking of melting... yep, you guessed it, my heart melted.
As I read my card, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Because Brian had pretty much written down all of my post-its as the same reasons why he loved me, some word for word. It was such an amazing feeling to know that we love each other for the same reasons.
We ate dinner, watched Friends, indulged on cookies and cake, and booked our trip to Florida (only 64 more days!). It was a perfect evening. I didn't need a night out on the town or a fancy restaurant; being with Brian and talking and laughing over delicious homemade food was perfect. And Boo loved it too, down to the peppers she ate (really, what is wrong with that cat?).
Whether it was spent with a spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, pet, or by yourself, I hope you all had a Valentine's Day full of love. It really does make the world go round.
That's very sweet, love the post-its!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you two had such a great day! When I was reading your latest post, I noticed the post with the post-its on the bottom. Tonight, I left a bunch for my boyfriend, Erich. I think you'd appreciate it!
