When we won a pair of tickets to a private Ryan Montbleau concert at the Life is Good flagship store for our fundraising efforts, we knew we couldn't pass it up. So, we rented a car and were off yesterday morning for a day trip. Once we arrived on Newbury Street, we shopped as we made our way toward the Common. With iced tea and coffee in hand, we walked through the corner of the park and found a perfectly shaded bench. We watched and laughed as a man fed peanuts to squirrels who crunched away at our feet.
Earlier in the day, we spotted Hubway bikes. They are like the zipcar of bikes- for five bucks, you can take out a bike for the day. There are hubs all over the city where you can unlock and lock bikes. The longer you ride, the more you pay, but overall it is a cheap and fun thing to do. We tried to rent some on Newbury Street as soon as we arrived, but after having some technical difficulties with one of the pass codes we abandoned the idea. But then we saw another hub in the Common, and knew we had to do it. After refreshing my muscle memory and slowly biking on the sidewalk (I hadn't rode a bike in years!), we were off on the city streets of Boston. We admired houses in the Back Bay, biked through the park, and rode through alleys with hidden gardens and patios. It was so much fun.
After we finished biking, we ate dinner at Stephanie's before heading to the Life is Good store for our concert. We scoped out the perfect spot right in front of the band and had such a great time listening as the Ryan Montbleau Band played. They were recording the concert for an upcoming live album and sounded amazing! It was a once in a lifetime experience, thank you to everyone at Life is Good for a great night!
Because I had so much fun making a video on my Florida trip, here is another one with the highlights of our Boston adventure...
It includes...
My favorite road trip snack, Brian's amazing singing in the car (to Juke Box Hero), the infamous tunnel through a mountain that Brian talks about and explains each and every time we drive through it, giggles in Boston Common, biking through Back Bay, our private concert, and one of the creators of Life is Good (John Jacobs) doing one of the happiest dances I have ever seen.
(filmed on my iphone using the 8mm camera app. Music by Donavon Frankenreiter.)

ReplyDeleteThe video was awesome, as well. Glad that you and Brian had a great time. The part about Brian explaining the same story every time you go through that tunnel made me laugh my butt off. Nice to know he hasn't changed all that much.
