A new coffee mug from a very special trip to Boston with Brian. Even though I waited for forty minutes (that's right, 40 minutes, not 4) for the subway on the morning when I snapped this photo, I smiled every time I looked down at my comforting cup of coffee. Because, really, life is so good.
Freshly popped, organic popcorn covered in Parmesan cheese and sea salt = perfect afternoon snack.
Favorite albums on shuffle. After a summer of relaxation and carefree days, it is always a bit of a battle to adjust to my two hour commutes every day to work. This week, I relied on some of my old favorites to get my through the rush-hour rides.
Fresh baked cookies. Enough said. After consuming about ten too many, I packed up the rest of the batch and shared them with coworkers. I have found that educators can rarely pass up baked goods, and that I am more than happy to provide them on a consistent basis.
Attempting to brighten up long, rainy days. New York City had a rainy, wet, and dreary week. Extended forecasts of rain can be a tough pill to swallow when you walk everywhere. Luckily, rainy days are a little brighter with a cute Coach umbrella and a favorite pair of Hunter wellies.
The September issue of Real Simple, sweat pants, and a mani/pedi. The night before my first day of school, I treated myself to a manicure/pedicure instead of a trip to the gym. I lounged in my favorite pair of sweatpants and read the current issue of Real Simple. After playing catch up with all of my summer issues months after they came out, it was refreshing to read articles actually relevant to the season. And so relaxing. I also was quite pleased to bring my darker, deeper fall colors with me instead of my summer brights. I think I am ready for fall.
Coffee ice cream. So much more dangerous than I anticipated. Plus, Brian doesn't even like it. I ate that pint of ice cream like it was my job.
This week, I also welcomed 26 second graders into my classroom. The first day of school felt too big to call little, so it will have a post of its own coming soon... but it just felt weird to not at least mention it in a post dedicated to things that bring joy to my life.
I am so thankful for the little things that make life so wonderful. What little things are you grateful for this week?
I am linking up at Aisle to Aloha today. Go check out her amazing blog and other It's About the Little Things posts!
Hi Daina! Linking up from Lindsay's party. Great list! I especially love that cute umbrella and the pretty nail polish. I am inspired to do something about my own nails today. :) A 2 hour commute? Wow, that sounds kind of brutal. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHA! One of my "little things" was about mani/pedis too! Jumping over from the linkup party. You have a beautiful blog! The header picture is AMAZING. So cool.
ReplyDeleteNurses also can never pass up baked goods! Women love to bake, but nobody wants it in their house so the goods make their way to work...My favorite little thing is when Ryder looks me right in the eyes with the biggest grin on his face over whatever may be making him happy at that time. Nothing better!!
ReplyDeleteI would also enjoy the rain if I had an umbrella like that..LOVE IT! Those haagen dazs are heaven for ice cream lovers. Have you ever had their dulce de leche? YUM
ReplyDeleteHopping over from Lindsay's (I'm over at Seek Ye First)! One of the little things I so dearly miss is the rain! Since moving to Southern California I have a deeper appreciation for showers and weeks of perfect east coast rain! I love your umbrella too- so cheery for autumn's gloom! I also love your fall colors! I feel like I can't get away with them just yet out here- and OPI just makes me smile! I'm still wearing "I Eat Mainely Lobster" from their tour of the USA line.
ReplyDeleteLove all your little things this week and can't wait to see more!
Hey lady, your post made me smile and I see a blog friendship in our future! I loved all your little things and look forward to hearing more of your story.
ReplyDeleteI also studied abroad in italy and filled tons of notebooks then moved far away from home and met a boy :) It's been a wonderful journey and it's only just begun!
Thanks for your transparency :)
Those cookies sure look yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love baking especially when it's with my mum!
Xx
