Where the wild things are.

The Bronx Zoo is an amazing place. Once you step inside its gates, you quickly forget that you are surrounded by a bustling metropolis. You can wander through the African Plains where lions and giraffes roam or observe red pandas and snow leopards in the Himalayan Highlands. Tigers lick their chops on Tiger Mountain and grizzly bears swim and play in their pool. The Bronx Zoo is the largest urban zoo in the world, and it is the perfect place to spend a weekend afternoon.
Brian, Emily, and I had an amazing day at the zoo last weekend.
We at ice cream as peacocks slowly walked by our table, flaunting their aqua blue feathers.
Rain sprinkled down for about ten minutes after lunch, providing Emily with the perfect amount of time to use her adorable umbrella.
My favorite part of the afternoon was our visit to Congo Gorilla Forest. More than 20 western lowland gorillas live at the Bronx Zoo, and they are the most amazing creatures to see and watch. This beautiful female just sat and stared at me for several minutes, calmly reclining across a tree. I love how expressive and human-like gorillas are. They are known to greet each other nose to nose and embrace. And really, what's not to love about gorilla hugs.
We concluded our visit to the zoo with a ride on the Wild Asia Monorail. It was the perfect way to end a great day!

  1. Looks like fun! I have been begging to go to the zoo all summer, now that it's cooled off we'll have to go...your pics of the gorillas made my day! They are my favorite too, when they stare at you like that it's like they stare into your soul, it's amazing. Love animals! :)
