Grilled Cheese for Grownups
As soon as my mom and step dad arrived in New York City on Saturday, we headed to my favorite local Astoria coffee shop, Kickshaw. I was eager for them to try Kickshaw's specialties: amazing coffee and the most delicious grilled cheese sandwiches in five boroughs (seriously). We chat as we sipped Guatemala coffee, cappuccino, and homemade sarsaparilla soda. But once the food arrived, our talking slowed as we devoured our sandwiches and soup. Seriously, the gouda sandwich with black bean hummus, guava jam, and pickled jalapenos is a little plate of heaven.
Kickshaw, you will forever have a place in my heart.

Drooling!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly heck... that sounds good!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still in love with grilled cheese, and my latest is putting pesto on them (cause anything with pesto is better, I believe at least). It's seriously delish, but with mozzarella cheese and a little american (or whatever else you want on it). Maybe a tomato slice or two. it's very sweet that your parents come out and visit so much!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite places! Hoping to head there for lunch today!
ReplyDeleteI was debating about moving to Astoria or Park Slope so I blog surfed different NY blogs until I found your's. I love your recommendations and your pictures are adorable! My roommate is from Minnesota so I'm going to show her your blog as soon as she returns from MN. Do you have any advice on realtors in Astoria?
