A Thanksgiving Tradition.

Mine, Brian, and Emily's Thanksgiving traditions lived on this year and we had a wonderful day. After stopping at d-lite Donuts on Broadway Thanksgiving morning, we hopped on the R train and made our way to Midtown Manhattan. We followed the masses toward Sixth Avenue, and secured a spot off of 57th Street with a great view of the skyline. Shortly after the parade started uptown at 9 am, we heard the echoes of cheering and applause as the first police cars and balloons made their way towards us. I still tear up every time I see the first balloons of the parade float by with the skyline stretching behind them. I still can't believe I get to live in this amazing city; the city I watched and admired on TV every Thanksgiving as a little girl in Minnesota. Being at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will always hold a special place in my heart.

We cheered with the crowds as each balloon passed and eagerly awaited the newbies to float by. Papa Smurf lived up to his expectations, as did Hello Kitty. We left before Elf on the Shelf made it to us, but he looked perfect on TV as we watched the entire parade a second time from home in our pajamas later that afternoon.

I have so much to be grateful for. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

After all that has happened this past month on the East Coast, I am feeling more thankful than ever this Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my amazing family and friends, for a career that I love, and for getting to live in a city that continues to amaze and inspire me every day. I feel so incredibly lucky.
