Simple Bliss

After a weekend of workouts at the gym, and two back to back field trips to Fort Greene Park and Pier 6 in Brooklyn Heights, I am spent. My abs hurt when I turn my torso from side to side, my shins are burning from days of walking with 25 second graders, and my legs still hurt from a grueling circuit of squats and jumping jacks that Brian had me do on Sunday night. So, the past two nights I have laid low. Within minutes of walking into my apartment, pajamas are on and my face is washed. Last night, after flipping channels with little satisfaction, I decided to cozy up with a book and read. And boy did I read. Over the past couple weeks, I got hooked on the Suzanne Collins trilogy (Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay). Last night, what started as laying down to read a couple chapters turned into  hours of reading and finishing the third and final book in the series, Mockingjay. I highly recommend the series to anyone who wants a quick and entertaining read! It was a nice break after months of reading the Stieg Larsson series. Which I also highly recommend! Nothing like reading six books in a row that I love. Simple Bliss.
Tonight, my simple bliss came with a sliced honey crisp apple, cheddar cheese, and peanut butter. Yum. A perfect treat while correcting my kids' homework and attempting to start to clear out my DVR.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and has a chance to enjoy a honey crisp apple or a good book as well. Because they are both blissful.
