Back in January, I set some resolutions. One of them was to try out yoga. Well, I can definitely check that one off. Because tonight I not only tried out yoga, but I made it through a hot yoga class. That's right- an hour and fifteen minutes in 105 degree heat with 30-40% humidity. I have never sweat so much in my entire life. My friend Dayle taught the class, which definitely helped me. She is an amazing teacher and gave me the confidence I needed to give it a try (check out her classes at New York Yoga on the Upper East Side or her website).
Back to the heat... afterwards, I could not cool down. I was pouring sweat and felt like I could not guzzle enough water. So, while Dayle showered and got ready, I sat near an open window chugging bottles of water. I could not even think about putting my leggings and sweater back on, so I decided to trek back home in my tiny yoga shorts and tank top underneath my jacket. With rain boots. I looked ridiculous. I honestly thought I might pass out or throw up on subway ride back home, but luckily I made it back to my apartment without either thing happening. I sat for over an hour drinking more water and eating bread and crackers in hopes of regaining my strength, still in my disgustingly sweaty yoga outfit. Thank god I started to feel more like myself after laying down for awhile and was able to finally shower.
Hot yoga was quite an experience. I am really proud of myself for making it through the class and am looking forward to trying out some regular yoga classes soon. I might need a little break from the hot classes though... I am still feeling a little light headed! Thanks again Dayle for a great class, you rock!
