Today I returned to one of my favorite neighborhoods, Hell's Kitchen, for brunch with friends. The neighborhood is like a time capsule from some of the best years of my life. Walking along 9th Avenue, I am reminded of falling in love with Brian. So many restaurants in the neighborhood were our restaurants, the places where we held hands across two tops and had countless conversations. 51st Street was the place where Lindsey and I called a carriage house home. I will never forget the excitement we felt after finding our first real apartment together, the long talks downstairs on our futon while Sex and the City episodes played, and our mornings together giving outfit advice from across the hall. Hell's Kitchen was the place where I went out with new colleagues from the Red Eye, who are still some of my closest friends today. It was the neighborhood where I spent my 21st birthday. It was the place where I bought a coffee every morning at the Hampton Deli. The neighborhood where I fell in love with macaroni and cheese, Amy's Bread, and chimichangas from Ariba Ariba.
Hell's Kitchen will always have a very special place in my heart.
So many memories.

ReplyDeleteSeriously. You should be a marketer for New York City. LOVE your photos. And your description of your memories.
