Sunshine Works Wonders

Sunshine really does make all the difference. After what seemed like weeks of rainy, foggy weather, we were blessed with several beautiful days this week. Temperatures reached the high eighties, the sun was shining, and the city took on a new life with the change in weather.

It is interesting to see what happens to New Yorkers when nice weather occurs. I think it has to do with the amount of hours spent inside working and lack of time spent in backyards, since for most of us they do not exist. People flock to parks, pop a squat on picnic blankets in the sporadic fields and patches of grass, and scope out the best restaurant and bar back gardens to relax in after a day at work. Fountain ledges and curbs are turned into lunch spots throughout midtown and downtown, and the new outdoor seating areas throughout the city streets are packed. It is just wonderful.

In honor of the beautiful weather, we spent our happy hour Friday afternoon at Habana Outpost in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
As always, the picnic tables were packed with friends chatting over guacamole, tacos, corn, and frozen margaritas.
And all of those things make me very, very happy.
As the sun set and the temperatures finally started to fall (a little), we continued to chat over one more round of drinks before heading home.
Thank you sunshine and Habana for starting my long weekend off on the right foot!
