Enchanted

I was enchanted the second I stepped out of the 190th Street subway station...
...and into Fort Tryon Park. Brian and I instantly felt like we traveled upstate, and not uptown, as we walked on tree-lined paths and underneath large stone arches. We loved wandering through the exquisite gardens and stopping to look at the many kinds of flowers.
The views of the Hudson were gorgeous. I snapped away on my camera as Brian investigated the many ways the fort was used long ago. After walking around for about a half an hour, we found a bench tucked away in the park and just sat, enjoying each other's company. It was perfect.
After taking in the park, we walked over to New Leaf for dinner. The restaurant was charming, romantic, and everything I had hoped it would be.
We enjoyed beef tartar and chilled corn soup to start. Then, for our main course, Brian had branzino, while I thoroughly enjoyed a sirloin with the most delicious herb and garlic french fries.
I think I could eat these every day of my life...
For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake with Valencia peanut butter ice cream, creme brulee, and coffee. It was the perfect way to finish off a delicious meal.
I will never forgot our afternoon and evening in Fort Tryon Park; it was the perfect date.
Special thank you to Meg for introducing me to the magic of New Leaf on her blog. If you are not already reading the wild and wily ways of a brunette bombshell, check it out! I love her words and the way she captures the beauty of the city in her photographs. Thanks Meg!
