Karaoke, Poptarts, and a night with the birthday girl.

Happy, happy birthday to the wonderful Meghan! We have been friends since our days (and many nights) together at the Redeye Grill, and I am so thankful to have her as a friend! Since her family is in town for the week, we decided to go out last weekend to celebrate.

We started out at Baby Grand, a karaoke bar on the Lower East Side. Now, I am used to karaoke happy hours with my co-workers, a group of teachers who have no professional singing aspirations. I forgot how different it is with restaurant friends, who are all singers and actors who seriously rock out when given a mic. Luckily, Meg was just as nervous as I was. So, we stuck to a classic (Like a Prayer) and prayed (ha!) that everyone else would sing louder than us. But, once we got going, we had a lot of fun...

Another highlight of Baby Grand? Poptarts! What a genius idea! 3 dollars will get you two perfectly toasted cinnamon brown sugar Poptarts. Amazing.

After karaoke, we walked over to Von for some dancing before heading home. All in all, a perfect night out with the girls in honor of a great girlfriend!
