Life is really all about the little things that make it so wonderful...
Pink skies. Early morning pink skies make my commute to work much more pleasant.
A sign. Our first graders do a writing unit called Writing in the World. In the unit, they learn the importance of writing with purpose. They start by writing signs that are posted around our school, and then move on to letters, emails, and lists. A small group of first graders worked on writing signs to inspire others, and this one definitely inspires me and makes me smile every time I walk by it.Halloween cards. Oh how I love to send real mail. So, I make sure to send cards every holiday I can... Happy Halloween!
Ralph's. This summer, I discovered the most amazing sweet treat: Ralph's Italian Ice. I first tried it back in July in Port Washington with my friends Allison and Brianne, and found myself craving it almost every day after that. So, I treated myself to it a lot in August. On Brianne's birthday on Tuesday, we headed uptown after work for our final Ralph's trip of the season before the Lexington Avenue location closes in November. I of course got peanut butter cookie dough, my go-to favorite. It went perfectly with the peanut butter fudge pretzel. Yum!
A new album. A week early. A friend at work managed to get an early download of the new Florence + the Machine album, and I have been listening to it ever since she passed it along to me. I. Love. It.
Homemade granola bars. Brian made the most delicious batch of homemade granola bars and dropped them off at my house earlier this week. It was really nice to eat healthy snacks that I know were made with love. The recipe is up on his website, along with lots of other wonderful posts about health and nutrition. Also, I recommend liking his facebook page; he shares a lot of interesting articles and events about holistic health practices. Check it out!
A giveaway win. I love a good giveaway, and tend to enter almost every one I see. Why not, right? I was so excited last week when I won a giveaway hosted by k.slademade for a scarf of my choice from their collection. I love all of their clutches and accessories and can't wait to wear my new scarf this fall!
That little note is so sweet! I love seeing how kids try to spell things and fail miserably, yet we're still able to understand their point. :P And I am jealous of those Hello Kitty stickers!!
ReplyDeleteLove all these but that little note just kills me. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteI love kids! Such great ideas and so open to the possibilities that can lie ahead of them! I also enjoy sending out cards and definitely do it for every holiday :D Isn't it so fun? What a fabulous week!
ReplyDeleteI love that you always appreciate the little things in life - it's such a great reminder for me to also slow down every once in awhile and be thankful for all my blessings :)
ReplyDeleteThat sign is too sweet!

I didn't know about Brian's business - I just liked his FB page. So cool!!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to be more diligent about sending cards out in the holidays and birthdays. Such a beautiful and sweet touch.

ReplyDeleteFirst and most importantly: I love the name of your blog (I <3 Billy Joel)! Haha
ReplyDeleteThose granola snacks look delicious!
What a yummy and exciting week for you. :)
That sign is so sweet! That is such a great idea. I may suggest that to the folks that run our pre-school here at UCP (inclusive pre-school where kids with and without disablities learn side by side). I have a painting in my office that the kids made for me and it makes me smile every day. I should include that in my post one week!
ReplyDeleteWhat great emergent spellers! That warms my heart from the inside. :) sounds like you had a fabulous week!! Here's to another!
