My mom, Brian, and I are safe and sound in Astoria this morning with power, heat, and hot water. We are extremely lucky.  My heart goes out to everyone who is affected by the flooding, power outages, fires, and explosions throughout the five boroughs. I cannot believe the images I am seeing of New York City and the East Coast as a whole. What a mess.

Hurricane Sandy was devastating, but I know the amazing city of New York will stay strong and pull through this. It is what New Yorkers are known for. Stay safe everyone!

  7. I was thinking of you last night! I figured you were probably good though since we talked to our family in Astoria and they said they still had power. So sad to see so much water throughout the city. I <3 NY!

  8. Wow! Well...New Yorkers are known to be survivors that's for sure! Prayers to all that weathered this storm! I myself have been through Hurricane Ike down in Texas. No power for two weeks!

Hope things get restored a lot sooner for you all. My cousin is headed your way from Texas to be part of the help to restore electricity.

    Again, prayers to you all!
