Scenes from the weekend.

Saturday Brian and I celebrated Valentine's together all day long. After a delicious lunch at Il Bambino, we walked around the neighborhood picking up meats, cheese, and wine for our dinner in. We also treated ourselves to coffee at Kickshaw before hibernating for the evening. Sunday afternoon I met up with one of my closest friends, Sara, who was in town from Minnesota for the weekend. We had lunch at Le Pain Quotidien, treated ourselves to donuts in Chelsea Market, and indulged in hot chocolate at City Bakery. I had a shot with a pretzel croissant, while Sara tried the flavor of the day, Sunken Treasure. We concluded our girls' day in the city with manicures and pedicures in Astoria and a delicious dinner at Milkflower. How was your weekend?

  1. I had mini donuts this weekend as well from the festival we had near our home. And City Bakery has such wonderful hot chocolate; I hope you enjoyed! It was definitely a busy weekend with Valentine's Day, the festival, a 7K festival run, and celebratory drinks after. Glad to have a quiet Monday=) Thanks for sharing the pictures!

    1. Hey Bre! Mini-donuts make any weekend better if you ask me! As does hot chocolate, especially from City Bakery. Congrats on a 7K run! I am not much of a runner, but my sister loves it and competes in races often. I wish I was better at it! Enjoy your quiet day today, it sounds like you deserve it!

  2. Those donuts look delicious. In fact, I think I saw that place on a tv show...Unique Sweets? I can't remember. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend! ;)

    1. Hey Liz! Yes, the donuts might have been on Unique Sweets (one of my favorite shows!). They are interesting because you can pick flavors- we went with Paris Time (vanilla, pistachio, and lavender) and Pumpkin Pie Brulee. They were really tasty! Hope you had a great weekend!

  3. We celebrated Valentine's Day on Friday at a local pizza joint and stopped for chocolate at a cafe that sells truffles. Saturday we attempted to sit at the river but it was too cold for me. Sunday we stayed for hours and walked around for a while too! It was very relaxing and just what I needed. There was also a lot of Olympic ski jump watching too.

    1. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! We have been watching a ton of Olympics as well. I am getting more into the skiing this year than I ever have before!

  4. What a fun and tasty weekend! I always forget about City Bakery's hot chocolate month. I will have to get there ASAP to try their fun flavors!

    1. The month of flavors is intense! I couldn't get the Sunken Treasure flavor in a shot (it came with truffles and gold coins at the bottom), but I bet you could for some of the other flavors. The caramel and pistachio days appealed the most to me! I am heading to Clinton Street Baking Company tomorrow for their month of pancakes. Yum!
