On Sunday my mom and I took Greta into Manhattan to visit Downton Abbey: The Exhibition. It was amazing to see so many of the sets replicated, along with a large collection of the costumes and accessories. I just finished watching all six seasons so the opening of the temporary exhibit was perfect! Afterwards we walked to the Plaza Food Hall for lunch and admired the Berdorf Goodman holiday windows. The crystal dinosaurs in the window representing the Museum of Natural History were absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to take in all of the Christmas sights when my mom comes back in two weeks for another visit.

Scenes from the weekend.
This weekend I celebrated my 32nd birthday with Brian and Emily. Brian cooked two of my all-time favorite meals on Saturday and Sunday evenings- filet mignon with vegetables and pasta with bolognese. We also had brunch on Sunday morning at Norma's. I had been craving their cheesy french toast for over a month and it lived up to all of my expectations! Between the amazing meals and delicious desserts all of my pregnancy cravings were more than satisfied by Sunday night!
On Monday we had our 20 week appointment and got to hear our baby girl's heartbeat, which was my favorite birthday gift of the weekend! How was your weekend?

Storm King Mountain
Before the weather cooled down Brian and I spent the day upstate exploring Storm King Mountain. We used this guide to lead us around on three different trails. The hike was super steep at the beginning with rewarding views at the top of the mountain. Two huge bald eagles flew out of a tree right next to us when we were at the peak, which was so amazing! We loved all of the views of the Hudson Valley and the fall foliage. We can't wait to return next year!

Scenes from the weekend.
Now that I am back at work, it's time to get back to my scenes from the weekend posts! The past several days have been wet and gray outside in New York City, so a good amount of time this weekend was spent watching romantic comedies in bed with Boo. Brian and I also had a date day at Macy's. We had a delicious lunch at Stella Trattoria (their cauliflower soup with truffles is my favorite!) and bought a new couch! I can't wait to get rid of our old, green couch and update our living room space. We are now on the hunt for a mid-century modern media console. So far the pieces from West Elm are our favorite. If you have any suggestions for places to shop please let me know.

Scenes from Memorial Weekend.
Brian and I have established several Memorial Weekend traditions over the years. This year we celebrated with Emily one day early in anticipation of a rainy Monday. We started our day at Hillstone on Park Avenue. Their French Dip sandwich is my absolute favorite and I look forward to it every year! After lunch we treated ourselves to cones and ice cream sandwiches from Ice and Vice. Emily loved her Milk Money cone! They are introducing new flavors on June 5th and retiring Coffee & Champagne, one of the most delicious ice cream flavors I have ever tasted. I am so sad to see it go!
We opted to walk from Ice and Vice along the East River down to Battery Park. We stopped along the way at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza and the East Coast Memorial and talked as a family about the importance of Memorial Day. We concluded our day out in Manhattan at the Seaglass Carousel in Battery Park. It was really beautiful and fun to ride!

Scenes from the weekend.
The warmer weather has finally arrived! We tried to spend as much time as possible outside this weekend. On Saturday Brian, Emily, and I visited the Bronx Zoo. We spent most of our time watching the gorillas. There were several new baby gorillas, which were so incredibly adorable! On Sunday I met up with my dad for brunch at Freemans. After our delicious meal we walked around the lower east side for a bit before returning to Rivington for ice cream at Morgenstern's. I was pretty upset when I learned that they stopped making my favorite salt and pepper pine nut ice cream, but the Vietnamese coffee flavor made up for it. I have several ice cream shops I want to try this season. New Yorkers, what are your favorite ice cream destinations in the city?
