Twelve dates of Christmas: On our seventh date of Christmas...

... we visited our most favorite Christmas house in Whitestone, NY.
Brian and I discovered Kevin and Tina Lynch's home last year on one of our Christmas dates and instantly fell in love with the phenomenal decorations and lights. We couldn't wait to take Emily back this year to see it! It was snowing while we were there last Saturday, so there was less of a crowd than during our previous visit. We had plenty of space and time to take it all in! There are so many things I love about this home: the elaborate holiday village with moving characters, the dancing Santas in the front window, the assortment of vintage figures throughout the yard... the list could go on and on. Kevin buries all of the cords below his lawn, allowing visitors to walk from decoration to decoration without tripping. How amazing is that?!

We were lucky enough to meet Kevin, the homeowner and decorator of the famous Christmas house, as he shoveled the freshly fallen snow outside on his sidewalk. While we were talking to him he mentioned that this year he was featured on The Great Christmas Light Fight, a holiday special on ABC, and that he won! The special was on the evening we visited the house, so we were able to watch the competition as soon as we got home and see the Lynch family accept their award!

If you are in the New York City area, I highly recommend making a quick trip out to Whitestone. The Lynch home is truly a sight to see!

    1. It is so crazy and amazing! He was so nice when we talked to him. He is a retired fire fighter and on the show he talked about how after 9/11 he didn't want to put the lights up, but his friends and neighbors asked him to do it. It is seriously the most joyful corner in all of NYC!

I have not been to Dyker Heights, but I heard it is amazing! There is also a home in the Bronx that I know is supposed to be great. We rented a car last weekend to see the lights, but since the weather was so bad we went home after this house.

    1. Thanks for commenting DawnMarie! I love Christmas lights so much. There are a few houses I always go to in Minnesota when I am home for the holidays. One of them even has their own radio station that is coordinated with the lights and movies they play! Pretty amazing.

    1. Hey Steph! I hope you get to check out the house! We used Google Maps to get to the house by plugging in 166th Street and 23rd Avenue. Here is the info:

The Lynch family Christmas house, 166th Street and 23rd Avenue, Whitestone. The lights are on from sunset until about 1 a.m, and are taken down Jan. 7.

    1. I know, it's crazy! There is a street in Brooklyn that is also well known for their light displays. We won't make it this year, but hopefully next holiday season we can rent a car and drive through it!
