Our Engagement Captured.

About a month before our wedding Brian and I met our photographer, Jon, in the West Village for an engagement photo session. It was a wonderful way to get to know him and his shooting style before our big day. Jon perfectly captured our joy and love for one another during our hour together. Brian made me laugh the entire time, per usual, and we had so much fun wandering the cobblestone streets and Highline together. We will cherish these photos forever!

Scenes from the long weekend.

I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend. On Saturday we celebrated my friend Brianne's upcoming nuptials with a day of pampering and partying. We talked all things wedding as we got blowouts and manicures in the Flatiron District. Afterwards we had cocktails at Lillie's (they were all delicious!) and a great dinner at B Bar in the Lower East Side. I can't wait to celebrate with the beautiful couple at their wedding in June! 

On Sunday Brian, Emily, and I snacked on tacos in Chelsea Market before exploring The Highline. A trip to The Highline is not complete without coffees from Blue Bottle Coffee. I highly recommend the New Orleans cold brew- yum! 

On Memorial Day Brian and I watched Emily walk in the parade in Norwalk with her Girl Scout troop. Afterwards we visited a memorial in Madison Square Park and had a delicious lunch at Hillstone on Park Avenue. We started our Hillstone tradition a few years ago and always look forward to their ribs and famous French dip sandwich on Memorial Day. After telling our server about how we visit the restaurant every Memorial Day, he talked to management and treated us to our entire meal! We were so shocked by the kind gesture and truly appreciative. I am already craving another French dip!

A summer date with our cameras.

Early Thursday morning I had a date in the West Village with my good friend Jen and our cameras. We met outside Chelsea Market, cameras and lenses in hand, and started our day together with a delicious breakfast at Amy's Bread. After vegetable quiches and iced coffees were devoured, we walked up to The Highline and started shooting. We wandered the lower section of the park and then made our way through the cobblestone streets below. It was such a blast trading and trying out new lenses (I loved Jen's wide angle lens!), taking and comparing hundreds of photos, and catching up as we walked through the village. The best part about camera dates? It doesn't matter if you spend five minutes trying to get the perfect shot or if you are laying belly down on a sidewalk, because your friend is most likely doing the exact same thing! Jen and I are already busy thinking of a location for our next camera date in August. Any suggestions?

A Must-See: The Highline.

When my friends and family come to visit me in New York City, I have a small list of must-see sights that I try to get to every time. The Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Brooklyn Heights, and Washington Square Park are among them. One of my favorite places to go in the city, with or without visitors, is The Highline. The park, who's first section opened in 2009, stretches up the west side of Manhattan from Gansevoort Street to 30th Street on old elevated railroad tracks. The Highline's history is fascinating, and I am so grateful that the Friends of the Highline were able to perserve the space and create an amazing outdoor oasis thirty feet above the hustle and bustle of 10th Avenue.

My brother, Lucas, and I spent last Saturday walking the length of The Highline. Flowers were in bloom throughout the sections of the park, and we stopped frequently to admire the wildlife and the views of the traffic below. It was the perfect way to spend our afternoon.
