Scenes from our weekend.

Our booth at Burger Joint.

Grand Central Holiday Market.
December will always be one of my favorite times of year in New York City. The markets, the lights, the decorations, and the holiday cheer make it absolutely magical. My parents were in town this past weekend for a quick visit (24 hours!), and we had the best time taking in all of the Christmas goodness. Saturday night we shopped, saw the tree at Rockefeller Center, and chowed down on burgers, fries, and shakes at the Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien after admiring the gingerbread houses that lined the lobby of the hotel.

After an early brunch on Sunday, we explored holiday markets around town and shopped throughout SoHo. The Hester Street Market was great; I scored an awesome new bracelet and ring for myself and can't wait to go back next weekend for more Christmas gifts! That evening we tried Tacombi in Nolita. Their sparkling sangria, guacamole, and fresh tacos were the all delicious! We were so full after dinner that we decided to take our cupcakes from Little Cupcake Bakeshop to go. I highly recommend the Mott Street and Peanut Butter and Jelly cupcakes. Yum!

If my December is anything like the first weekend, I am in for a very magical time. Happy holidays everyone!

  2. I had always hoped that Christmas in New York would be like on Home Alone when he enters that toy store. Loved the photos, wish it was even slightly cold here (70's)!

  9. Great photos as usual Daina! Just curious what make and model your camera is! At some point, I'm gonna get my butt to carry a nice camera like yours! The markets here in NYC are great—especially the open flea markets on the Upper West Side and Hell's Kitchen along with the garage in Chelsea! I'm sure your parents enjoyed every bit of their short, 24 hour stay! BTW, December and the Holidays are really our favorite time of the year too! Pug hugs and kisses from Mamma and family! xo
